New Year's Goals

Hi Reader!

I've been MIA. Was the end of the semester/year a doozy for the rest of you? I thought I'd give you some updates and tell you about my big goals for the upcoming year.

As I've mentioned before, I do strategic planning retreats and quarterly planning sessions. I also do regular weekly reviews using my Full Focus Planner. I've just finished up creating my big goals for the upcoming year.

My word of the year is ELEVATE!

I'm going to Elevate myself as a scholar, faculty success coach, and balanced person by:

  1. Submitting 4 articles, 2 presentation proposals, and 1 book manuscript.
  2. Publishing 12 YouTube Videos, sending a weekly newsletter, and supporting 8-10 clients.
  3. Taking 12 adventures, moving my body for 20 minutes at least 3 times per week, eating at least 15 grams of fiber per day, and meditating daily, and engaging in a hobby (reading, knitting, etc.) daily.

Based on this post, I'm trying to add some fun to my year as well. Can you help me brainstorm some good ideas? I'm considering 50 fancy deserts, or 50 coffee dates, or 50 new drink flavors. Hit reply and let me know what fun thing I could try to get 50 of this year!

Interested in Elevating your writing?

I've had a fellow faculty member reach out about scheduling a writing retreat this semester. Would you be interested?

Tentatively, it would be Wednesday evening through Sunday lunch. I haven't locked in a location or dates yet. I'm thinking Mid-March (maybe March 19-23). I'm looking for a picturesque setting that has a major airport nearby. If you're possibly interested, click here to let me know! or hit reply to this email with your preferences.

Keep Exploring!

Hey Reader, I'm riding high today! There's nothing quite like making progress on a huge project. On the heels of a family road trip, I hosted a virtual writing retreat this week. Between the 4 of us major progress was made across multiple projects! YAY! I figured out a new organizational structure for a book project and revised the first 2 chapters. Another person made strides in redesigning a course, and another found decided a journal and started drafting an article from their dissertation!...

Hey there, fellow faculty! Remember your first day as a new professor? That mix of excitement and utter bewilderment? Well, let me take you back to mine... Picture this: There I was, sitting at my new desk, surrounded by a stack of textbooks and my course schedule. My instructions? "Teach your classes, do service and scholarship." That's it. No task list, no guidance on time management. Just me, wondering what on earth I was supposed to do next. Sound familiar? If you're nodding along, you're...
