Intentional Summer Planning Guide

Howdy faculty friends,

By the time you're reading this email, I'll be deep in grading the last final of the semester! 🙌 I'm super excited about the work and play that I've got lined up for this summer.

Did you see that? I don't leave play or work to my summer whims. I plan it out. I find that when I'm intentional with my summer plans I get my most important work done without compromising my rest and fun.

I'm offer 3 ways to support you with your summer plans!

  1. Read this email for my quick take on summer planning.
  2. Join me for my Intentional Summer Planning Workshop May 13, at 9:00 AM (ASL) or 11:00 AM (English) Central where we'll spend 90 minutes digging into what you want to be celebrating at the end of the summer and how you can get there. You'll walk away with a plan you can implement immediately (or later in the summer if that's your preference!).
  3. Join the summer cohort of the Faculty Success Circle where you'll get daily accountability and cheer-leader check-ins, (almost) daily 90 minute co-working sessions, and weekly asynchronous office hours.

My framework for planning my summer includes 3 main steps (i-PIE):

Identify what I want to do with my summer and what I want it to feel like. I don't just focus on the work I've been putting off to the summer. I include relaxation and fun as well as my scholarly projects.

Plan how you'll get there. How will you be spending your time on a monthly and weekly basis?

Implement your plan on the weekly and daily basis.

Evaluate what's working and what's not? Build in feedback loops so you can adjust the plan to continue moving in the right direction.

Want to dig into each step in more depth with a workshop, Q&A, and 1-1 coaching? Sign up here to join us on May 13, 9:00 AM ASL or 11:00 AM English (all times central!)

Keep Exploring!

Hey Reader, I'm riding high today! There's nothing quite like making progress on a huge project. On the heels of a family road trip, I hosted a virtual writing retreat this week. Between the 4 of us major progress was made across multiple projects! YAY! I figured out a new organizational structure for a book project and revised the first 2 chapters. Another person made strides in redesigning a course, and another found decided a journal and started drafting an article from their dissertation!...
